FAQ

Who is Mrs.Fancypants?

My name is Joanne Marie, the owner and chef at Mrs.Fancypants. I trained in the culinary arts at the Academie Culinaire Le Cordon Bleu and am based in Sydney, Australia. A professional chef by trade, I have worked for Sydney’s top chefs and restaurants. I started Mrs.Fancypants when the pandemic closed down the restaurant I was working at in 2020. What started as a recipe blog has now branched out to corporate catering, boutique private events and now drop-off catering.

What is Mrs.Fancypants?

Mrs.Fancypants started as a blog for my recipes and tips to help people who started baking during the pandemic. It quickly evolved to custom cakes and high tea orders then became a full-blown private catering business in the span of a year! Yes, I’ve been quite busy! Before the current Sydney lockdown, I was poised to relaunch the private catering business as a brand under Mrs.Fancypants and will be doing so in the next few months.

Do you have a kitchen? Where are you located?

I hire a couple of commercial kitchens, one in the Eastern Suburbs and another in Banksmeadow. Both kitchens have passed all the Food Standard checks.

What is your Covid-19 Protocol?

Masks are worn at all times by all team members. Good hygiene is highly-practiced by our team.

For online orders:

We will be doing CONTACTLESS deliveries to all addresses and you will be notified by SMS once your box has been dropped off. In cases where there is a security door or front gate, the delivery person will ring you or buzz your unit and let you know that they are about to leave your package at the door. If there is no one home, your order will be left by the front door.

For boutique catering:

All staff are required to undergo a rapid antigen test (RAT) prior to arriving at the event. If anyone tests positive they will be asked to stay home. Hand sanitisers and antibacterial wipes will be used and available throughout the event.

Is there a vegetarian option?

Do I have to cook?

The short answer is no. I have done most of the prepping and cooking, however, you may need to toss the salad in dressing and reheat. The idea is to have a restaurant experience at home, so I have included an instruction card as a guide with basic steps that anyone can follow.

How long can I keep the food?

Like all takeaway food, I always recommend immediate consumption. However, all safety protocols have been followed and as long as you keep the food below 4C, you may keep it up to 3 days. Please bring all hot food the boil where possible or an internal temperature over 65C before consumption.

Food is cooked and cooled down in accordance with Australian Food Standards, they are packed and handled with the utmost hygienic practices. Dishes will be vacuum-sealed where possible to retain freshness.

Can I get it delivered on another day?

If you require delivery before Saturday, just shoot me an email and we can discuss if it’s possible!
